"Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith..."
"Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints."
We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.
—Philippians 1:25, Jude 3, 2 Thessalonians 1:3 (all emphases added)
The Faith for Faith Conference is about handing on the faith once for all delivered to the saints, for the faith of the saints today. We look backward that we might better look forward. Jaroslav Pelikan's memorable quip helps to communicate something of our aim for this conference: “Tradition is the living faith of the dead, traditionalism is the dead faith of the living." Our desire is not to keep dead dogma on life support. Our zeal is to recover the doctrines that give life. The faith is not to be taken up without faith. Only spiritually dead men could make living doctrine dull.
Doctrine is for devotion.
The faith is for faith.
