The Faith for Faith Conference

Doctrinal | Historical | Devotional

"Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith..."

"Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints."

We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

—Philippians 1:25, Jude 3, 2 Thessalonians 1:3 (all emphases added)

The Faith for Faith Conference is about handing on the faith once for all delivered to the saints, for the faith of the saints today. We look backward that we might better look forward. Jaroslav Pelikan's memorable quip helps to communicate something of our aim for this conference: “Tradition is the living faith of the dead, traditionalism is the dead faith of the living." Our desire is not to keep dead dogma on life support. Our zeal is to recover the doctrines that give life. The faith is not to be taken up without faith. Only spiritually dead men could make living doctrine dull.

Doctrine is for devotion.

The faith is for faith.

2023 CONFERENCE - APRIL 21–22

Steadfast:

The Covenant Love of God, the Faithfulness of Shepherds,

the Perseverance of the Saints, and the Life of J.C. Ryle.

Because of our God's steadfast covenant faithfulness, we continue in the faith.

One means that God uses to preserve our persevering is faithful shepherds.

In this, God's faithfulness begets faithfulness which begets faithfulness.

Hebrews 13:7 Lecture

Each year Josh King, one of our elders at Meridian, devotes some time each day to studying the writings and life of an exemplary figure from church history. This study culminates in a biographical lecture delivered each year. This figure serves as the launching pad for the theme of each year's conference.

The 2023 lecture will be: "The Bishop: J.C. Ryle."

J.C. Ryle, best known for the classic work Holiness, was a 17th century Anglican clergyman.
